Alexandrite

Alexandrite Stone  Alexandrite stones are unique and precious due to their nature, non-availability, and even rarity. These stones have either attained this status as the mines that yield them have been exhausted, or because the creation itself is one of a kind in nature. Along with Pearl, Alexandrite is the birthstone for the month of June and the Anniversary stone for the 55th year of marriage. It is an extremely rare gemstone, often referred to as the stone of "Friday's Child." It was identified, recognized, and named "alexandrite," and became the national stone of tsarist Russia as the stones appear in the same green or red colors as the Old Imperial Russia's military colors.

HISTORY

The story of the gemstone's discovery is based on the fact that it was found on the day of Prince Alexander II of Russia's birthday in the emerald mines near the Tokovaya River in the Ural Mountains. On that day, miners were collecting emeralds when one of them gathered some stones that shone a brilliant shade of red in the campfire light. To their surprise, in the morning the stones had turned green. Believing it to be an omen of good luck, fortune, and love, people in Russia consider the gemstone to be very auspicious. It is also said to bring balance between the physical and spiritual worlds, as well as to strengthen intuition, creativity, and imagination. Additionally, the gemstone is believed to open the crown chakra, allowing access to the healing energy and love of the universe.

USES

There are many ways in which alexandrite is said to aid physical ailments. It is believed to be helpful for those recovering from surgery, a prolonged illness, or chronic disorders, as it can help to restore internal and physical energy. It is also thought to promote self-esteem, emotional wellbeing, and the ability to appreciate the world around us. Additionally, it is said to bring joy to those who are too self-disciplined. Metaphysicians believe that alexandrite crystals can help one to connect with the beginning of one's development and to travel back in time.
